Most Popular Adjustable Dumbbells: What UK Sales and Quiz Data Shows
Which Stealth adjustable dumbbells do customers buy most often? We compared six months of store sales with our quiz results, then looked at public customer reviews to add context to the figures.

Our Most Popular Adjustable Dumbbells: What the Data Shows

Which adjustable dumbbells do our customers buy most often? Across six months of Assassin Goods store sales, the Stealth Black Edition accounted for almost half of the standard Stealth adjustable dumbbell pairs sold. The Core Edition and Chrome Edition made up the rest in fairly similar proportions.

We also looked at our adjustable dumbbell quiz results which was introduced in June 2026. Those figures tell a different story: what the quiz recommended after a submission, and our analysis shows that the Core Edition is much more popular than the quiz results would suggest.

Black Edition led our adjustable dumbbell sales

The Black Edition represented 49.9% of standard-pair sales in the period measured. It was also the quiz’s most frequent recommendation, at 52.6%.

The Black Edition is our most refined adjustable dumbbell system, with the tightest manufacturing tolerances in the Stealth range. It's unsurprising that his is the most popular, as it is attractive to all different ages and abilities, and is the highest spec dumbbell in the range.

Each dumbbell starts at 4kg, progresses in 1.5kg increments and is available with a maximum weight of 23.5kg, 32.5kg or 41.5kg. A highlight of this adjustable dumbbell is that all of its components are replaceable, with genuine Black Edition parts available directly through our replacement parts page. This means that unlike many other brands, if something were to happen, users don't have to throw the whole set away, and the set can be maintained and kept in use indefinitely.

Public reviews add useful ownership detail. In his Shop review of the Black Edition, Mark said the pair avoided “lengthy delays swapping weights between sets” when he and his wife trained together.

There is an important buying distinction: you choose the maximum weight you need when ordering Black. It does not follow the staged Chrome upgrade route. If you expect to need 41.5kg later, compare the Black configurations before settling on a lighter one.

Core sold more often than its quiz result might suggest

The Core Edition accounted for 26.1% of the measured sales. The quiz recommended Core in 9.6% of results.

That difference does not mean that customers ignored its advice. We have not matched quiz submissions to purchases for this public study, and the two datasets cover different dates. Price, available weight range and individual training needs may all matter at the point of purchase, but these figures alone cannot establish why someone chose Core.

Core provides 20 settings per dumbbell, from 2kg to 40kg in 2kg increments, in one compact pair. It is the value-focused route to a complete weight range. Unlike Black, Core replacement parts are supplied through Stealth Support rather than sold individually on the website.

Its public reviews describe practical benefits. Chris called the Core Edition “versatile and space saving” on Shop. In a separate review on the same product page, a customer said the dumbbells were easy to assemble and adjust, with no clattering during use.

Chrome offers a different way to build your setup

The Chrome Edition accounted for 24.0% of measured sales. The quiz recommended Chrome in 37.7% of results.

Chrome’s distinguishing feature is its all-metal plate design. The current Gen 6 system offers 1.5kg weight steps, an optimised selector mechanism and an adjustable base. You can start with the 23.5kg pair, add the 23.5kg to 32.5kg upgrade package, and later add the 32.5kg to 41.5kg upgrade package.

Reviews of earlier Chrome Edition pairs provide context about day-to-day use. Laine wrote on Shop that the dumbbells were “Really easy to put together and use.” Mike’s review on the same page highlighted the weight range and having fewer weights around the home. In his review, Samuel Breeze describes the dumbbells as feeling solid and well made, and praises their chrome finish.

The sales period includes Chrome Gen 5 and Gen 6. The Chrome percentage is therefore a measure of sales across those generations, not a claim about demand for Gen 6 alone. It also excludes upgrade-package purchases.

Which adjustable dumbbells should you choose?

Popularity is useful context, but it is not a substitute for choosing the right weight range and design for your training.

  1. Choose Black Edition if you want the most refined Stealth system and know which maximum weight suits you.
  2. Choose Core Edition if you want a complete 2kg to 40kg range at the most accessible entry point in the range.
  3. Choose Chrome Gen 6 if all-metal plates and the option to add more weight through upgrade packages matter to you.

How we calculated these figures

The sales percentages cover 22 March to 21 September 2026 and use net items sold through Assassin Goods for standard Black, Chrome and Core adjustable dumbbell pairs. Net items sold accounts for returns in the sales data. We excluded ex-display sets, upgrade packages, replacement parts and other products. Chrome includes Gen 5 and Gen 6 standard pairs.

The quiz percentages cover submissions recorded from 2 June to 22 September 2026. They describe the edition returned by the quiz’s recommendation logic. A submission is not necessarily from a unique person, and a quiz recommendation is not evidence of a purchase or even a stated product preference.

The linked Shop reviews are selected individual accounts. They were not used to calculate the sales or quiz percentages, and older Chrome reviews do not describe Gen 6-specific changes.

Both datasets come from Assassin Goods. They describe activity in our own store and quiz, not the wider UK market. We have published aggregate percentages only; no customer details are included.
